Citrus College grabbed its first win of the season Wednesday with a 7-5 victory on the road at Mt. San Jacinto College.

The Owls improve to 1-1 on the year and give Coach Jessica Brown the first win of her collegiate coaching career.

Leah Morales and Patty Rodriguez each had three hits in the victory, while Torie Brewer knocked two hits.

The Owls struck first in their first chance at the plate, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Morales led off with a base hit and came home on a Rodriguez triple.

Citrus extended its lead to 5-0 with four runs in the third before the Eagles battled back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Mt. San Jacinto tried to keep the rally going and scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth after Alexis Cordero came home on an RBI single from Brewer in the top half of the inning.

Morales scored her third run of the game in the sixth to keep some distance for the Owls, who held on for the 7-5 victory.

Citrus is back on the road Friday, taking on San Bernardino Valley College at 1 p.m. at the Loma Linda University Drayson Center.
