Citrus College resumed Western State Conference action Tuesday with a 9-1 run-rule victory over LA Valley College. It marked the second-straight mercy win for the Owls, who win the series over the Monarchs.

The Owls improve to 15-13 overall and 6-4 in conference, while the Monarchs drop to 3-21 on the year and 1-10 in WSC play.

Citrus wasted little time, scoring seven runs in its first chance at the plate. With bases loaded and one out, Rodriguez singled to right field to send one run in before a wild pitch scored another run.

Jasani Zavalza drew ball four to load the bases again and Loza drilled an RBI base hit to right center, 3-0. Figueroa tacked on two more runs with a base hit through the left side and Ericka Pineda capped the scoring with two RBIs off a double to left, 7-0.

LA Valley got one back in the bottom half of the inning, but the Owls put the run rule in play with two runs in the fourth. Rodriguez led the frame off with a double and was joined on base by Zavalza. Loza sent Rodriguez home with a base hit and Loza came in on a wild pitch, 9-1.

The Owls continue their busy week on Wednesday, making up a game from March at Glendale College at 2 p.m.
