San Jacinto, CA - The Citrus College Women's Basketball team opened up play on Friday afternoon against Chaffey College in the San Jacinto Lion's Club Lady Eagle Tip-Off Tournament. The Owls were outscored in each of the first three quarters in a 50-75 loss to the Panthers.

Citrus would get off to a good enough start, scoring the game's first points thanks to a triple from freshman Sally Hernandez, and leading 9-5 three minutes in after a jumper by freshman Celeste Fekay. The Panthers would close out the quarter on a 15-2 run though, and the Owls struggled to get back in it.

The Owls would get their deficit down to six in the second quarter, after a set of free-throws 8:26 into the second when freshman Cassandra Martinez hit two from the charity stripe to make it 14-20. Citrus never got any closer the rest of the way.

Sophomore Marisa Brown would lead the Owl effort on the offensive end of the floor scoring a team high 18 points, adding 11 boards, an assist, a steal, and a block. Martinez added 12 to go along with a team high five assists, while Fekay added six, four rebounds, and three assists.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 1-3 on the year. The Owls will move into the consolation semi-finals where they will take on Orange Coast College at 12:00 PM on Saturday.
