Barstow, CA - It wasn't always pretty, but the end results was exactly what the Citrus College Women's Basketball needed on Saturday evening. The Owls shot just 21.6% from the floor, but finished their 2016-2017 the right way with a 41-39 win over host Barstow College.

The Owls got to work in the first frame, taking a 10-7 lead after the first 10 minutes of action thanks in large part to six points and seven boards from sophomore Marisa Brown. In the second quarter though it was all Barstow as they used a 12 -2 run through the first seven and a half minutes to open up at 19-12 lead. The Owls would close the gap before the break a little, but would still trail 20-14 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Citrus slowly chipped away, heading into the final frame trailing 30-27. The Owls would take a brief lead 35-34 after a basket by freshman Jasmine Williams, but Barstow briefly regained the lead. Freshman Cassandra Martinez would give Citrus their final lead via a free-throw with less than four minutes left, that made it 37-36. Citrus led the rest of the way.

In the win, the Owls were paced by Brown's 16 points and 15 rebounds. Martinez finished with eight points, while Williams had four points, four rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals. With the win, Citrus' season ends with a 7-19 overall mark and 3-7 WSC East record.
