Goostrey, Garcia-Nunez Named First Team All-Conference

After a solid season, in which it grabbed its best start to a season since 2012-13, Citrus College saw two Owls earn All-Western State Conference-South first-team honors.

Katherine Goostrey and Giselle Garcia-Nunez each earned the honor after helping the Owls finish the year with a 14-14 overall mark.

Goostrey, a freshman guard from Glendora, Calif., led the Owls and the Western State Conference-South, while ranking 18th in the state with an 18.9 points per game average. She scored in double figures in all but two games and had three games where she grabbed double-digit rebounds.

Garcia-Nunez, a freshman forward from Azusa, Calif., finished the year averaging 13.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, which ranked sixth in the WSC-South. She set a new program record for most rebounds in a single game with 20 boards in a 56-53 Owl victory over Rio Hondo. Garcia-Nunez finished the year with 15 double-doubles, 32 steals and 14 blocks.
