Citrus Opens Season at Mt. SAC Tip-Off Challenge

Citrus College tipped off the new season at the Mt. SAC Tip-Off Tournament Friday but fell 76-53 to Long Beach City College.

The Owls open the year at 0-1 while the Vikings, who rank No. 6 in the South, start at 1-0.

Cayla Williams came off the bench and made an impact for the Owls, finishing with a team-high 15 points (7-for-11) and 10 rebounds for the first double-double of her collegiate career. Giselle Garcia-Nunez also posted a double-double with 10 points (5-for-12) and 10 rebounds, while Gabriela Valdez chipped in 10 points. Reanne Reola dished out five assists and Felicity Mendoza added another four without turning the ball over.

The Owls next take on Rio Hondo College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
