Citrus College picked up its second win of the year with a 63-52 victory over San Diego City Thursday night.
The Owls improve to 2-1, while the Knights drop to 1-3.
Jolleen Olia led two Owls in double figures with 20 points (5-for-16) and added five assists, while Gabby Valdez added 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Liz Camargo chipped in four assists.
Sammy Martinez grabbed 11 rebounds and had three steals, while Deija Mitchell added seven boards.
Citrus came out fired up and jumped out to a 21-12 lead in the first quarter, but SD City battled back to pull within two, 31-29, at halftime.
In the fourth, the Knights took a 48-45 lead, but Olia made a key layup before sinking two free throws to put the Owls back in front. Citrus got a big stop on defense as Carmago stole the ball away and led to a Gabby Valdez jump shot to spark a 13-2 run to create some distance for Citrus, 61-50.
San Diego City tried to foul to get the ball back but Olia was perfect 10-for-10 at the charity stripe to secure the victory.
The Owls head to El Camino College on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tipoff, looking to keep momentum in their favor.
