Citrus Heats Up From Distance

Citrus College got back on track with a 79-67 victory over Rio Hondo College Tuesday night in its third game of the El Camino Crossover.

The Owls improve to 4-2 overall, while the Roadrunners slip to 2-7 on the year. 

As a team, the Owls were hot from the perimeter, shooting 42.1-percent (8-for-19) from three-point range.

Jolleen Olia led the Owls with 38 points (12-for-22), which is the third-most points scored by an Owl in a single game. Sammy Martinez finished with a double-double, posting 11 points (5-for-8) and 14 rebounds. Liz Camargo dished out six assists.

Citrus won the opening tip off and Kristin Morella drilled a three-pointer to get the scoring going. The Owls closed the first quarter on an 11-2 run to take control of the game and never let go, grabbing the 79-67 victory.

The Owls head to the Cypress College Tournament the first weekend of December, taking on Merced College first on Friday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m.
