Citrus College picked up its fourth win in a row with a 64-61 victory over Santa Ana College Friday afternoon at the El Camino College Crossover.

The Owls – who are receiving votes in the 3C2A State Poll – improve to 9-3 on the year, while the Dons drop to 6-4 overall.

Jolleen Olia led the Owls with 25 points (8-for-17), while Liz Camargo followed with 13 points (4-for-10).

Two Owls came up big off the glass as Sammy Martinez grabbed 12 rebounds and Deija Mitchell had 11 boards.

It came down to the wire as Santa Ana banked in a crucial three-point shot with 15 seconds left on the clock. The Dons fouled to stop the clock, but Olia was perfect at the charity stripe and knocked in both her free throws to put the Owls up by three with six seconds left.

Santa Ana called a timeout and tried to hit a buzzer-beating trey to send the game into overtime, but it was off target to seal the victory for Citrus.

The Owls take a break for the holidays before returning to action on Dec. 30 for a game at LA Pierce at 6 p.m.
