After two months on the road, No. 24-ranked Citrus College finally made its return home and battled for a 79-72 victory over the College of the Canyons.

The Owls improve to 13-4 on the year and remain undefeated in Western State Conference action with a 3-0 mark. The Cougars slip to 9-8 overall and 2-1 in WSC play with their first conference loss of the year.

Two Owls finished in double figures, with another right on the cusp. Jolleen Olia led the Owls with 27 points (10-for-19), while Kristin Morella chipped in 23 points (8-for-22). Sammy Martinez was just one point shy of a double-double, finishing with nine points and 11 boards.

It came down to the wire after Canyons battled back from a 17-point hole to tie the game, 67-67, with just under six minutes left in the fourth. The Cougars took the lead briefly, but Citrus kept its composure and got some key stops on defense to take back its lead and seal the victory on two Morella free throws.

The Owls look to keep rolling as they head to LA Valley on Saturday for a 5 p.m. game.
