Second Half Onslaught

Oxnard, CA (Women's Soccer) -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer team used a second half onslaught to pick up their first win of the 2012 season. The Owls scored three goals in the second half en route to a 4-0 win over Sacramento City College.

Sophomore Jasmine Williams, who hadn't played for Citrus since 2010 and is the Owls' single season record holder for goals, broke the seal in the 44th minute in the first half with a goal off an assist from sophomore Gabby Virgen, who is also back after an extended break from the Owls.

Williams kept it rolling in the second half, by putting a ball in the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Vanessa Plascencia in the 51st minute. Plascencia notched another assist in the 72nd minute when her pass led to a goal from freshman Sheyla Sanchez. Five minutes later, the Owls made it 4-0 when freshman Gennyfer Santamaria scored an unassisted goal.

With the win, Citrus improves to 1-0-1 on the year. The Owls will be back out on the pitch on Tuesday for their toughest test to date when they take on perennial power San Bernardino Valley College in San Bernardino. First touch is set for 4:00 PM.
