Glendora, CA (Women's Soccer) -- Since the 2006 season, the Citrus College Women's Soccer team has defeated all of their Western State Conference South foes, except for one. In that stretch the Owls were 0-11-1 against LA Pierce College. Citrus had been looking to take that monkey off their back for quite some time, the Owls finally got to do just that when 10th ranked Citrus knocked off 6th ranked LA Pierce 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Things didn't start off so hot for the Owls as Pierce took advantage of a Citrus defensive miscue and scored in the 5th minute. Despite the early set back, the Owls kept grinding, nearly matching the Brahmas shot for shot (10 to 11) in the first half. Citrus would have opportunities, but just couldn't cash them in, in the first half.

The Owls did get things rolling early in the second half though, as they drew a penalty kick with a Pierce handball deep in the goalie box. Sophomore Elizabeth Johnson would step to the ball for Citrus, and calmly buried it. It was her third of the season of tied the game up at one goal apiece.

Citrus continued to apply the pressure to Pierce, outshooting them 10-6 in the second 45 minutes. That pressure paid off as shortly after earning a corner kick in the 72nd minute, sophomore Jasmine Williams put home her seventh goal of the season off a rebound in the 73rd minute to put the Owls up 2-1.

Pierce would try and get back the goal, but it was all for naught. The Owls' defense which has allowed just four goals all season long was steady. Freshman keeper Dominique Oro was solid for Citrus with six saves in the win.

With the win, Citrus improves to 9-0-2 overall and 5-0 in WSC South play. The Owls' road doesn't get any easier, despite the big win on Tuesday. Citrus will hit the road to take on College of the Canyons this Friday in another conference match-up. Kick-off is set for 4:00 PM.
