Santa Clarita, CA (Women's Soccer) -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer team found themselves in unchartered territory after Friday's contest at College of the Canyons. For the first time this year, Citrus was handed a loss, as the host Cougars knocked off the Owls 1-0.

The game would be physical from the get go, as Canyons was whistled for 11 fouls in the first half compared to just two for Citrus. Despite the physicality, the Owls mustered three shots against Canyons' two in the first 45 minutes, a half that ended in a 0-0 tie.

In the second half, the Cougars made quick work. Canyons scored in the 51st minute, and put Citrus in a second half deficit for the first time since September 4th against San Bernardino Valley. In that game, the Owls scored three minutes later and pulled out a 1-1 tie, but there'd be no such luck for Citrus this time out as they fell 1-0.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 9-1-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play, and what is shaping up to be a hotly contested Western State Conference South Division race. The Owls will try and rally from the set back on Tuesday when they host West Los Angeles College in another conference contest. Kick-off is set for 4:00 PM.
