Santa Monica, CA -- After staking themselves to a quick 2-0 lead early in the first half, the Citrus College Women's Soccer team suffered a meltdown in their second half of action at Santa Monica College on Tuesday afternoon. The Owls gave up three second half goals and suffered their first loss in the month of October 3-2.

Early on it looked like it was going to be all Citrus. The Owls got on the board in the 10th minute when freshman Rebekah Evans found the feet of freshman Kacie Licata on a breakaway. Licata had just one person to beat, the keeper, and she did just that to make it 1-0.

The Owls would make it 2-0 shortly thereafter. Earning a throw-in deep in their own territory, Licata threw the ball towards the box where it bounced out of the reach of the Corsair defense and in the possession of sophomore Leandra Escobar who buried it.

That would be all the scoring though for Citrus, as Santa Monica turned the tables on the Owls. The Corsairs cut the Citrus lead to one in the 49th minute and then scored twice more late with goals in the 72nd and 74th minutes.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 8-4-4 overall and 6-1-2 in WSC South play. The Owls will have to regroup and try to get back on track on Friday when they head out to Los Angeles Valley College to take on the Monarchs at 1:00 PM.
