Glendora, CA - Citrus College sophomore midfielder Zariah Silva became the first Citrus College Women's Soccer player from the 2015 team to sign a scholarship offer last week. Silva has signed on with NAIA member San Diego Christian College.

"San Diego Christian College is a small school that provides a close knit environment," Silva said of her signing with the Hawks. "It's a great opportunity for me to continue to play soccer, while pursuing my degree and my future profession."

Silva was a two-year starter for the Owls, helping lead them to a post-season berth in 2015. Over two seasons, Silva appeared in 39 total matches, tallying 14 career points with four goals and six assists. As a freshman, Silva was named a 2nd team All-Western State Conference South Division selection. As a sophomore Silva earned 1st team All-WSC South honors. In addition to her accolades on the field, Silva was named a Citrus College Scholar Baller as a sophomore. Scholar Baller's are those student-athletes who maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.

"Citrus helped provide me a chance to take time to decide what I wanted to do with my life," Silva said. "The coaches pushed me beyond my limits to improve myself on the field, and in the classroom."

"Zariah was a rock for our program over the last two seasons," said Citrus College Head Women's Soccer Coach Tim Tracey. "We could always count on her  to get things done on the pitch and in the classroom, as she was a leader by example."
