Despite having chances early, 15th-seeded Citrus College couldn't hold off 18th-seeded Ventura College Wednesday night, falling 4-0 in the first round of the SoCal Regional Tournament.

The Owls end the year at 14-7-1, while the Pirates improve to 10-8-4 and advance to the next round.

Citrus had some good looks early on, including a header from Jasmine Rodarte that hit the post and the rebound shot from Abigail Salvador that was saved off the line, but just couldn't seem to break through.

Despite momentum in Citrus' favor, it was Ventura that struck first as the Pirates scored in the 14th and 25th minutes to put the Owls in a 2-0 hole at halftime.

Ventura tacked on two more goals in the second half to put the game away, despite Citrus never giving up.
