Six Owls Earn All-Conference Honors

Six Owls Earn All-Conference Honors

Following a solid season where it made its sixth postseason appearance in seven years, Citrus College saw six Owls earn All-Western State Conference honors.

Kaylee Sanchez and Brianna Herrera-Martinez picked up first-team honors, Janelle Alvarado and Abigail Salvador earned second-team recognition, and Maddy Moris and Jayme Beatty were named honorable mention.

Sanchez finished her sophomore season with nine goals (which ranks seventh all-time) and seven assists (sixth in conference and sixth all-time) on the year to tally 25 points (eighth in conference). She scored one game-winning goal and had three two-goal games, including having a hand in four of the Owls' goals in an 8-1 win at West LA (two goals, two assists).

Herrera-Martinez helped lock down the Owl defense that allowed just 25 goals all year and only 66 shots on goal. Offensively, she got into the attack and scored once and assisted once as well.

Alvarado appeared in all 22 games for the Owls and scored three times on the year, also assisting once. She scored the game-winning goal in Citrus' 3-0 victory over Bakersfield and finished the year with seven points.

Salvador was a consistent offensive threat for the Owls and tallied 10 goals (ninth in conference) and two assists on the year. She scored two game-winning goals (ninth in conference), including one against Pasadena City College and another against San Bernardino Valley College.

Moris finished her freshman campaign with six wins and seven shutouts (second in conference) in goal for the Owls. In over 1,600 minutes played, Moris made 54 saves and boasted a 1.35 goals against average (third in conference).

Beatty played in 21 games for Citrus and scored eight goals (14th in conference) in her collegiate debut. She finished the year with 21 points after also assisting five times and had four game-winning goals, which led the conference and ranked 17th in the State.
