Women's Water Polo began their season last Friday, September 6th with two wins at the Palomar College Mini Tournament in San Marcos, CA.
The Owls began their two-win day against San Diego Miramar, defeating the Jets 13-9. Led by Gabi Terry who had three goals and two assists, Marieona Reedy who had four goals and Kori Cunningham who had two goals, two assists and four steals, the Owls went ahead early in the and were able to seal the win starting their season off strong.
Game two of the day came in a dominant 19-9 win over the hosting Palomar College Comets. The Owls went down 9-5 in the 1st quarter but responded well with 14 unanswered goals in the next quarters to earn their second win of the day to improve to 2-0 on the season. Citrus had a well-rounded effort with goals from 10 of their players including five goals from Ryan Price, four goals from Kori Cunningham while Elizabeth Walls and Gabi Terry added two goals each. All three Owls goalies contributed as Natalie Abril recorded six saves, Audrey Jurado had four saves and Katelyn Wright ended the game with two saves.
Women's Water Polo will look to maintain their undefeated record when they head to the Orange Coast College Tournament this Friday, September 13th, and Saturday September 14th for five games against some of the top teams in Southern California.
