Cross Country Closes Out Year at SoCal Championships

Costa Mesa, CA -- The Citrus College Cross Country team closed out their 2012 season on Saturday afternoon at the Southern California Championships. Freshman Julia Galvz led the four competing Owls, coming in 139th overall place.

Four Owls Moving On to SoCals

Santa Barbara, CA -- Four Citrus College Women’s Cross Country runners will be moving on to the Southern California Championships a week from Saturday. The four individuals qualified thanks to their performance at yesterday’s Western State Conference Championships at Ledbetter Beach in Santa Barbara.

Owls Chug On at Mt. SAC Invite

Walnut, CA (Cross Country) -- The Citrus College Cross Country teams continued to show improvement and continued to chug on this past weekend at the Mt. San Antonio College invitational. On the women’s side their Top 7 all finished under 25 minutes, and for the men they finished in a strong pack.

Perea and Galvez Lead Owls at WSC Preview

Los Angeles, CA (Cross Country) -- Citrus College sophomore Lovella Perea and freshman Julia Galvez led the Owls to a 9th place finish at this weekend’s Western State Conference Preview. Perea was the top Owl runner on the day, finishing 45th overall while Galvez was 54th.

Owls Finish 10th at Foothill

Ontario, CA (Cross Country) -- With the majority of the Owls’ top women’s runners sitting out, and the men’s team completely taking the weekend off, the Citrus College Women’s Cross Country team took 10th out of the 10 competing teams at last weekend’s Foothill Invitational.

Huntington Beach, CA (Cross Country) -- The Citrus College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country team had one of their best weekends of the year at the Golden West Invitational on Friday. The Owls posted seven personal records on the day, including six on the women’s side.

Tejada and Meza Shine for Owls at SoCal Preview

Costa Mesa, CA (Cross Country) -- Freshman Michael Tejada and Marilyn Meza shone for the Owls this past weekend under a sweltering sun in Costa Mesa. The Owls took part in the annual Southern California Preview at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa, and the two aforementioned athletes cross the finish line first for the Owls men’s and women’s teams.

Women Finish 3rd at Rio Hondo Invite

Whittier, CA (Cross Country) -- The Citrus College Women’s Cross Country team had a strong showing on Friday afternoon finishing in third place at the Rio Hondo Invitational. The Owls had their best showing of the young season and had five Top 20 finishes on the day.

Meza and Ewart Pace Owls at Ventura Invite

Ventura, CA (Cross Country) -- Freshman Marilyn Meza and Wesley Ewart paced the Citrus College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams on Friday afternoon as their season opening meet the Ventura College Invitational. Meza finished 31st out of 93 runners while Ewart was 64th out of 85.

Potential is There

Glendora, CA (Cross Country) -- With the start of their 2012 season quickly approaching, the Citrus College Cross Country program is optimistic about their upcoming gauntlet. While relatively new on the men’s side, the women return some strong runners and the recruits on both sides are impressive. In other words, the potential is there for a good 2012 campaign.
