Owls Season Ends In Sixth Place at WSC Championships

Ojai, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s’ Golf 2013 season came to a close on Monday at the 2013 Western State Conference Championships at Soule Park Golf Course. The Owls opened the day up with an impressive start in the first round, but struggled in the afternoon round and finished in sixth place.

Owls Limp To Last At Glendale

Glendale, CA -- After an impressive second place finish last week at their home hosted match, the Owls limped to a last place finish on Monday afternoon at the WSC Event hosted by Glendale College. In the final regular season match of the year, Citrus had just two players come in under 80 as they fell to last for the second time this season.

Sophomore Danile Olivas had the Owls' second best round of the day with a 75 at the WSC Event hosted by the Owls.
Citrus Blows Past Competition at San Dimas

San Dimas, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Golf team hosted their Western State Conference foes on Monday afternoon and blew past the majority of their competition. The Owls placed second out of the seven conference teams, firing a team combined 384 on a blustery day.

Owls Take Last at WSC Allan Hancock

Santa Maria, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Golf team had their worst finish of the 2013 season on Monday afternoon when they took seventh out of the seven competing teams at the WSC Allan Hancock Event. The Owls shot a team combined score of 401 at Santa Maria Country Club.

Owls Take Disappointing Sixth at WSC Neutral

Ojai, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Golf team finished a disappointing sixth at the Western State Conference Neutral Site event on Monday afternoon. After a hot early start to the year where Citrus was in the top four in each of the first three conference events, the Owls have no finished in the bottom half in the last two.

Tustin, CA – The Citrus College Men’s Golf team took on a tough non-conference opponent head to head on Wednesday afternoon, and the Owls ended up on the losing side. Santiago Canyon downed Citrus 375-405 at Tustin Ranch Golf Course.

Owls Limp To Fifth at Ventura

Oxnard, CA -- After back to back strong showings in conference competition the Citrus College Men's Golf team limped to a fifth place finish at the WSC Event hosted by Ventura College at River Ridge Golf Club. The Owls finished more than 20 strokes back of the third place team, and had just one player finish under 80.

Santa Barbara, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Golf team finished fourth at the San Barbara Invitational. Sophomore Jacob Rodriguez led the two day tournament for the Owls, finishing seven strokes better than any other Owl.

Bakersfield, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Golf team had their best team round of the year on Monday afternoon at the WSC Event hosted by Bakersfield College at Rio Bravo Country Club. The Owls shot a 385 and finished in second place out of the seven competing teams their best finish in recent memory.

Solvang, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Golf team captured another fourth place finish on Monday afternoon at the Western State Conference match hosted by Santa Barbara City College. The Owls rolled deep, claiming the fourth place finish despite not having a single golfer finish in the Individual Top 10.

San Dimas, CA -- Citrus College sophomore Jacob Rodriguez fired a three under par 69, but the Citrus College Men’s Golf team was still edged by the University of La Verne on Wednesday. The Owls hosted the four-year school at San Dimas Canyon Gold Course, and fell by just nine strokes.

Sophomore Daniel Olivas posted the third best individual round of the day with a two over par 75.
Pounding On the Door

Valencia, CA -- Anchored by sophomore Daniel Olivas’ two over par 75, the Citrus College Men’s Golf team was pounding on the door on Monday at the Western State Conference Event hosted by College of the Canyons. The Owls finished two strokes out of third place, and eight strokes back of second place Santa Barbara City College at Valencia Country Club.

Freshman Ricky Hunter had a strong debut for Citrus firing a +2 over par 74 in the first round of the Tee-Off Classic.
Promising Signs

Chino Hills, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Golf team finished a somewhat disappointing 11th out of 15 teams at the Tee-Off Classic this past week. Despite finishing low, the Owls had some promising signs individually that bode well for Citrus as the season goes on.

Back In a Big Way

Bakersfield, CA -- After a year away from the Citrus College Men’s Golf team, sophomore Jacob Rodriguez, made his second season debut for the Owls on Monday and Tuesday at the Bakersfield Double Eagle Tournament hosted by Bakersfield College. Rodriguez led the charge for Citrus, firing a pair of 76’s en route to a 9th place overall individual finish and sixth place finish out of nine teams for the Owls.

With Hard Work Comes Great Reward

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Golf team will be kicking off their 2013 campaign in less than 48 hours, and things surrounding the team seem optimistic. The Owls have continued to improve in their previous three seasons under Head Coach Trip Horton, and that trend looks to continue starting this weekend.

Glendora, CA (Men’s Basketball) -- Citrus College sophomore men’s golfer Shane Favinger has accepted a scholarship offer from Holy Names University in Oakland, California. Favinger was the Owls’ lone qualifier for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Golf Championships the last two seasons.
