Meet Your Athletic Trainers

Athletic Trainer Scott Norman, ATC

Athletic Trainer Scott Norman ATC has been a NATABOC certified Athletic Trainer for over 22 years. Before Norman came to Citrus College in ’02, he was the Fitness Director at Peachwood Physical Therapy from ’94 to ‘99. In ’99 Norman moved on to become the Sports Medicine Director for Fortanasce Physical Therapy in Arcadia. Then in ’01 Norman went to work for Casa Colina Rehabilitation hospital as clinical director in their South Pasadena facility. Finally in ’02 Norman became a member of the “Fighting Owls” staff, where currently he is an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Norman the son of Gordon and Diane Norman, the youngest of three, was born in Glendora, Ca. where he grew up an attended Glendora High School. Before graduating from GHS in 1987, he went on to earn nine varsity letters in his four years. Norman then enrolled in our very own Citrus College, where he played football for three (one red-shirt) seasons under Coach Mike Merandi. Norman graduated with his AA degree in ’90. After his stint at Citrus College, Norman moved on to Cal State Northridge where he also played football for three seasons, and went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training in 1994. Before graduating, Norman also earned his NATABOC certification, and became a Certified Athletic Trainer. Norman also earned his Master’s Degree from Azusa Pacific University, in the field of Exercise Science in 2008.

Norman has been married for over 15 years to his best friend, and  lovely wife Jaime. They have four children, Trenton, Taylor, Troy, and Tatum. When he is not at work, Norman enjoys spending time with the family, mountain biking, snow boarding, and swimming. Norman currently resides in Covina, CA.

Athletic Trainer Valencia Hamilton, ATC

Valencia Hamilton joined the Citrus College Athletics staff during the 2018-2019 academic year. Hamilton came to the Owls after previously working for other California Community Colleges in El Camino College, Compton College, and Cypress College. 

A native of the Bay Area, Hamilton earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from California Lutheran University in 2015. Upon graduation Hamilton enrolled at Chapman University, where she went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Athletic Training. In 2017 Hamilton became NATABOC Certified. 

Outside of her extensive community college experience, Hamilton has also served as a Preceptor for Long Beach State, and was an intern for USA Volleyball in 2016, the same year, both men’s and women’s teams won Bronze Medals at the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. 

When she’s not in the clinic or on the sideline, Hamilton enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and cooking. An avid fan of the Oakland Raiders, Hamilton was a winner on the Price is Right in 2016.
