Citrus College Athletics Announces 2025 Hall of Fame Class
 

Citrus College Athletics is inducting eight individuals and one team into the Citrus College Hall of Fame. Ed Conly (Administrator/Coach), Coach Skip Claprood (Baseball), Quinton Ganther (Football), Tammy Knott (Women's Basketball/Volleyball), Jade Nua (Softball), Coach Jackie Boxley (Softball), Dave Hostetler (Baseball), Jerry Wooden (Men's Water Polo), Laura Bermudez (Cross Country/Track) and the 2008 Men's Basketball Team will all be inducted in 2025, Citrus College Athletics' second Hall of Fame Class. The ceremony will be held at the Citrus College Handy Campus Center on Friday April 11, 2025.  

Conly's 47-year career at Citrus College included roles as a coach, teacher, and administrator. Conly coached the Citrus College Track and Cross-Country team from 1952-1964 before teaching and becoming an Athletics Administrator from 1964 to 1989.   

Claprood coached the Citrus Baseball team for 30 years from 1972-2002 where he ranks 3rd All-Time in the State and 1st All-Time in Citrus history with 772 wins. Coach Claprood won 14 conference championships and saw over 150 of his players get drafted, 14 of which played in the MLB. Claprood was inducted into the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2004. 

Ganther played football for Citrus College in 2002 & 2003 where he set single season (1,490) and career rushing yard (2,767) records. Ganther transferred to the University of Utah and played in 2004 & 2005 where he finished top 12 for single season rushing yards as a senior. In 2006 the Tennessee Titans drafted Ganther in the 7th round where he spent six seasons in the NFL. 

Knott competed on the Citrus Women's Volleyball, Women's Basketball, and Women's Track and Field teams from 1996-1997 where she was the Foothill Conference MVP as a freshman after leading the state in kills. Knott was awarded All-Conference as a sophomore and ranks 4th in program history for kills in a season and 3rd in total blocks. After Citrus College, Knott attended Southeastern Louisiana University on an athletic scholarship.  

Nua played on the Citrus College Softball team in 2016 and 2017 where they were selected All-WSC as a freshman and WSC Player of the Year, All-State, and All-American as a sophomore. Nua holds the program single season records in batting average (.582), RBIs (62), runs scored (57), and on-base percentage (.725) while ranking 2nd all-time in program slugging percentage (1.235). Nua holds the career records at Citrus College for homeruns (19), runs (80), RBIs (84), and runs (80) while having the second-best career batting average (.480). Nau attended Fresno State University on an athletic scholarship.  

Boxley coached the Owls Softball team for 16 seasons (2005-2017, 2020-2022) as the winningest coach in program history with over 350 wins. Boxley coached in 10 playoff appearances and won three Conference Championships (2006, 2014 & 2015). Coach Boxley has produced numerous All-Conference, All-State, and All-Americans and has sent several individuals onto four-year institutions with scholarships. 

Hostetler competed on the Citrus College Baseball team for two years in 1975 and 1976 where he set and still stands as the program leader in career RBIs (103) and single game RBIs (8). Awarded Mission Conference MVP as a sophomore before transferring to University of Southern California on athletic scholarship to be a part of the 1978 College World Series Championship Trojans Baseball team. He was Drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 4th round of the 1978 MLB Draft and played five seasons in the Majors for the Expos, Texas Rangers, and Pittsburg Pirates. 

Wooden played for Citrus College Men's Water Polo program in 1990 and 1991, he ranks top 10 in nine different statistical program history records, including the all-time leader in career ejections drawn with 172. He was named the Foothill Conference MVP and All-American in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. Wooden transferred to USC on an athletics scholarship to play two seasons for the Trojans where he broke the single-game goals record (8), which stood until 2012. Wooden was named All-American as a sophomore at USC. 

Bermudez competed for Citrus Cross Country as well as Track & Field from 1993-1995, earning WSC Runner of the Year in Cross Country in 1994 after winning the WSC Championship and 3C2A State Championship that year. Bermudez's State Championship time of 18:11 is a Woodward Park program record. Bermudez transferred to Cal State Los Angeles, competing in Track & Field, and finishing in 2nd place in both the CCAA Championship and NCAA West Region Championship. 

  

The 2008 Men's Basketball Team went 35-1 overall and became the second team in Citrus College history to win a State Championship title. All eight sophomores earned athletic scholarships at the four-year level, including four at the NCAA DI level. Of the three freshmen who returned the following year, all would earn athletic scholarships, including another at the D1 level. Two coaches on the 2008 Citrus College Men's Basketball staff are currently coaching at NCAA DI programs (Rick Croy - California Baptist University and Chris Acker - Long Beach State University).
