Owls Upended by Panthers
Rancho Cucamonga, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team was held to three runs, two of which didn't come till late as they were upended by Chaffey College on Thursday. The end result was a 8-3 loss for the Owls.
Citrus started off well enough as freshman Michael Bradley staked the Owls to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with an RBI single. That would be it for Citrus over the next eight innings as they were held scoreless thereafter until the top of the 9th.
Meanwhile Chaffey did what Citrus couldn't, pushing across two runs in the second, and five more in the third. The Panthers then added one more in the sixth for good measure.
The Owls' two runs in the ninth would come with two outs and off the bat of freshman Joshua Page. Page swatted his first home run of the year, but that's all Citrus would get as they fell by five.
With the loss, Citrus falls to 3-2 on the year. The Owls will get a chance to avenge Thursdays loss on Friday when the host the Panthers. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM weather permitting.
