Glendora, CA -- Every time visiting San Diego Mesa College called on the Citrus College Baseball team, the Owls had a response. Every single time the Olympians scored, Citrus had an answer in the bottom half of the inning in their 6-4 win.

It all started from the get go as Mesa scored a pair of runs in the top of the first. The Owls came right back though in the bottom of the inning getting an RBI triple from sophomore Blake James and a sacrifice fly to center field from freshman Joshua Page.

Citrus would tack on another score in the bottom of the second when James roped an RBI double to put Citrus up 3-2. Mesa tied it back up in the top of the third, but the Owls went back up by one thanks to an RBI ground out from freshman Brandon Benson that scored sophomore Mike Rowland.

After three straight innings of scoring things settled down in the middle of the contest. No more runs would cross home plate until the Olympians tied the game back up at four runs all in the top of the seventh. Citrus got it going again in the bottom of the inning though, going up 5-4 when freshman Rodnee Little scored on a passed ball.  One at bat later Benson drove in James with a sacrifice fly to make it 6-4.

With the offense rallying and every beck and call, it was Citrus sophomore Christopher Holden who benefitted the most on the hill. Holden pitched three strong innings of relief surrendering just two hits an giving up a single unearned run. Holden gave way to sophomore Luis Saballos in the top of the ninth. Saballos did what was asked of him and picked up his fourth save of the year.

With the win, Citrus improves to 6-3 on the year. The Owls will be back out on the field tomorrow afternoon when they start Western State Conference South Division play when they host LA Mission College. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
