Culver City, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team made it five of a kind on Thursday afternoon at West Los Angeles College. The Owls notched their fifth straight win, a 12-3 victory over the host Wildcats, as they continued their impressive start to the 2013 season.

As they have been known to do this year, the Owls staked themselves to some early runs on Thursday. Citrus scored in the top of half of the opening inning when sophomore Blake James launched a two RBI home in the second AB of the contest.

Citrus would tack on four more scores in the top of the fourth. Freshman Joshua Page got it going with a hit by pitch RBI that made it 3-0 Citrus. Sophomore Mike Rowland, followed that up with a two RBI single, and fellow sophomore Warren Fishback rounded out the scoring with an RBI groundout that gave Citrus a comfortable 6-0 advantage.

With a significant lead at his back freshman Marcos Martinez continued to look like an Ace for Citrus. Martinez would give up a pair of runs in the fourth and another in the bottom of the sixth, but finished a respectable six innings of work having given up just six hits and a walk while striking out six batters and earning the win.

The Owls would score twice more in the sixth and then wrap the game up really in the eighth when they posted another four spot. Rowland would finish the day 3 of 4 at the plate while Fishback went 3 for 5. Freshman Nathan Virgen had his best hitting day of the year going 4 for 5 with a pair of RBI's and a run.

With the win, Citrus improves 8-3 on the year and 2-0 in WSC South play. The Owls will be on the road again tomorrow when they head to Sylmar to take on LA Mission College in a make-up of Tuesdays rainout. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
