Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team, ranked #12 in Southern California, took on SoCal #4 Bakersfield College on Tuesday afternoon. The Renegades recorded 15 hits and scored in six of nine innings, and were just too much for the Owls in a 9-3 loss for Citrus.

It was a slow start to the game, with Bakersfield scoring a single run in each of the first, third, and fifth innings. At that point, the game wasn't out of hand for the Owls, but Citrus wasn't doing themselves any favors. Citrus did put runners on the bases in three of the first five innings, but weren't able to cash any of them in.

The Renegades began to pull away in the top of the sixth when they added two more runs to go up 5-0. Citrus cut into that lead in the bottom of the inning when sophomore Mike Rowland hit a two run home run to left field that made it 5-2.

Unfortunately for the Owls, Bakersfield continued to pile on, while Citrus just couldn't muster enough offense. The Renegades scored one more in the seventh and three more in the eighth to reach their nine run total. Citrus scratched out an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth, when freshman Rodnee Little hit an infield single that scored freshman Jason De La Pena for Citrus' third run.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 8-6 on the year and 2-3 in conference play. The Owls will have to take on the Renegades on Thursday, this time in Bakersfield with first pitch set for 2:00 PM.
