Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team was squeezed out of a win on Tuesday afternoon. Visiting College of the Canyons successfully executed a squeeze bunt in the top of the 10th inning, scoring the go ahead run in what ended being a 3-2 loss for the Owls.

Canyons jumped on the Owls from the beginning scoring a run in the first and another in the fifth to go up 2-0. Citrus meanwhile was being no hit through the first four innings, failing to record a base knock until the bottom of the fifth inning.

That's when the Owls put themselves on the board. Sophomore Warren Fishback started things off with a single to left. Fishback then moved to second on a wild pitch, and then on to third after a single from freshman Shawn Sweeney. Moments later Fishback scored and Sweeney moved to third after the Cougars committed an error failing to pick Sweeney off at first. Moments later Sweeney tied the game up scoring on a sacrifice fly to center off the bat of freshman Michael Bradley.

That was pretty much the entirety of what the Owls' offense mustered the rest of the way. Citrus did load up the bases with just one out in the bottom of the ninth, but came up empty handed only to see Canyons take the lead in the top of the next inning.

Sophomore Matt Fitzgerald got the no decision after starting and pitching seven strong and striking out four batters. Fishback and Sweeney meanwhile both went 1 for 2 at the plate.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 9-8 on the year and 3-5 in WSC South play. The Owls will take a break from conference contests the remainder of the week, but will take on San Diego Mesa in a non-conference match-up in San Diego on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
