Glendale, CA -- As the 2013 season continues, it's becoming exceedingly clear, that the Owls just can't catch a break late in games. After taking a 8-6 lead in the top of the 16th inning, Citrus coughed it back up in the bottom half of the inning as they fell to the host Vaqueros 9-8 to continue the heart break.

In what amounted to a wild game, the Owls scored first, getting a sacrifice fly from sophomore William Walters in the top of the first inning. Glendale came back with two more in the bottom half of the inning and then scored one in each of the next two to run out to a 4-1 lead.

Citrus cut it in half in the top half of the fourth getting a sacrifice fly from freshman Michael Bradley that made it 4-2. In the seventh, the Owls tied things up at four runs each when freshman Brandon Benson hit a two run shot. Glendale took it right back an inning later though with a single run that made it 5-4.

Facing the end of the game, Citrus rallied when freshman Matthew Reynoso hit an RBI single to tie the game up at five all and send the game into extra innings. The Owls would score first in extras getting an RBI single from sophomore Keith Cooper that made it 6-5, but the Vaqueros tied it back up in the bottom half of the inning to keep the game going.

The Owls then scored twice in the top of the 16th inning, as sophomore Mike Rowland hit a two RBI double, but again Glendale responded scoring three times in the bottom of the 16th to get the win.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 9-12 overall and 3-9 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back at home to try and snap their current five game losing streak against LA Mission College on Thursday. First pitch is set for 2:30 PM.
