Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team suffered their sixth straight loss on Thursday afternoon, as they stranded six runners on the base paths. It was twice as many as their opponent as visiting LA Mission College defeated Citrus 5-2.

The Eagles scored early tagging sophomore Matthew Fitzgerald for two runs in the top half of the first inning.  Fitzgerald settled down after the first inning blip and shut down LA Mission over the next five innings.

With Fitzgerald silencing the Eagles bats the Owls did their best to get the offense humming. Freshman Matthew Reynoso was responsible for Citrus' first run with an RBI single back up the middle in the bottom of the second. The run cut the Mission lead in half, making it 2-1.

After that though it was rough riding for the Owls as they wasted important chances. Eventually the Eagles chased Fitzgerald in the 7th after they scored twice more. Citrus answered in the bottom half of the inning after a sacrifice fly off the bat of freshman Jonathon Reynoso, but that's all they mustered. Mission scored once more in the eighth and that would be it for the day.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 9-13 on the year and 3-8 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back out on the diamond come Friday as they travel to take on LA Mission for a 2:30 PM start.
