Santa Clarita, CA -- For the umpteenth time this year, the Citrus College Baseball team came up just shy again. This time it was at the hands of red hot College of the Canyons, who stymied a late Owls rally and handed Citrus a 4-3 loss.

The Cougars did most of their damage early, scoring all four runs in the first five innings, an doing so with a trio of home runs. Canyons hit solo bombs in each of the second and fifth innings, and got a two run shot in the fourth as they gave themselves an impressive 4-0 lead.

The Owls didn't roll over though, as freshman Brandon Benson hit a bases clearing triple that cut the Cougars' lead in half headed into the final frame. Freshman Jonathon Reynoso drove in a run with a single in the top of the ninth, but the Owls' rally ended there as the fell by a single score.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 12-18 overall and 6-13 in WSC South play. The Owls can try and exact some vengeance on the Cougars come Saturday when they host them for a 1:00 PM start.
