Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team had a rough go of it on Saturday afternoon. After showing promise in the first inning, it all went downhill shortly thereafter as they fell to visiting College of the Canyons 15-3.

In the aforementioned first inning, freshman starting pitcher Marcos Martinez needed just 10 pitches to cruise through the Cougars' first three batters. In the bottom half of the inning, the Owls' batters looked like they were onto Canyons starter Steven Farnsworth as they loaded up the bases with just one out. The finally two Citrus batters went down without a peep, and things were bleak from there on out.

Canyons broke the game open in the top of the second with seven runs, and they kept it going in the third with three more. After the missed opportunities in the first, the Owls never recovered. Sophomore Mike Rowland picked up Citrus' an RBI of the day, when he drove in sophomore Warren Fishback in the bottom of the fourth. The Owls' only other runs would come in the bottom of the ninth freshman Jonathon Reynoso hit an RBI fielder's choice and freshman Rodnee Little hit an RBI single.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 12-19 overall and 6-14 in WSC South play. The Owls will be off to start next week, but will resume conference play a week from today with a trip to LA Valley College. First pitch with the Monarchs is set for 1:00 PM.
