Valley Glen, CA -- Host Los Angeles Valley College dealt the Citrus College Baseball team a loss in a pitcher's duel on Saturday afternoon. The Owls had two more hits than their host, and even had the benefit of a pair of Monarch errors. It wasn't enough though as Citrus stranded 11 base runners in a 2-1 loss.

Sophomore Oscar Gomez got the start for Citrus on Saturday, pitching six of the eight innings, scattering two runs, three walks, and six hits. Gomez also K'ed three Valley batters, with LA Valley scoring each of their two runs in the first two innings. Citrus wouldn't even get on the board until the top of the ninth inning when freshman Jonathon Reynoso drove in freshman Joshua Page with an RBI single. The game ended in the very next at bat though, as Valley got the final Owl batter to fly out to right field.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 12-20 on the year and 6-15 in WSC South play. The Owls will try and return the favor to Valley on Tuesday when they host the Monarchs with first pitch set for 2:30 PM.
