Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball dropped its first home contest of the 2014 season on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted SoCal #14 San Bernardino Valley College. The Owls had their share of chances, and outhit the Wolverines, but couldn't get it done when they needed it in a 4-5 setback.

San Bernardino struck first on Tuesday, plating a pair of scores in the top of the second inning. The Wolverines added another in the top of the third, thanks to a wild pitch from Citrus' sophomore starting pitcher Victor Garcia that found him in a 3-0 hole.

Despite the early scores, Garcia did enough to keep his team in it. Garcia scattered four hits and three walks over six complete innings of work, while striking out a season high four batters. It's the Owls' offense that didn't come through in a timely manner.

Citrus' first runs of the day would come in the bottom of the fifth, when the Owls caught a break with a two out error by San Bernardino Valley. Citrus capitalized getting an RBI infield single off the bat of freshman Aaron Torres and a big RBI double from sophomore Michael Bradley that nearly left the park.

Trailing 3-2, the Owls dug themselves deeper when they gave up two more scores over the next two innings to fall behind 5-2. Torres would notched an RBI groundout in the bottom of the seventh, and then another San Bernardino error led to another score for Citrus in the same inning, scoring sophomore Matthew Reynoso to pull the Owls back to within one at 5-4. Alas that was all the runs Citrus mustered as they fell to 2-3 on the year.

Citrus will be back at home on Thursday when they host Mt. San Jacinto College. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
