San Bernardino, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team got off to a tough start on Tuesday afternoon when they traveled to San Bernardino Valley College for a match-up with the 14th ranked Wolverines. Valley scored four of their six runs in he first two innings, and the Owls fell 6-3.

While San Bernardino was ready to go right out of the gate, the Owls took awhile to get started up. Citrus had a pair of singles and a walk through the first three innings, but nothing more than that as they didn't get on the board until the fourth, and it took some slick work on the base paths to get it done.

Freshman Taylor Grace got it going with a one out single to center. Sophomore ore Nathan Virgen would draw a walk in the next AB, and on the walk a miscue by the Wolverines allowed Grace to move to third. With one out, the Owls called for the double steals, and it worked to perfection cutting Citrus' deficit to three.

Unfortunately for the Owls that was the extent of their offense through the first seven innings. In the meantime Valley tacked on two more runs in the bottom I of the seventh. Citrus would score twice in the bottom of the eighth thanks to an RBI single from sophomore Johnathon Reynoso and a bases loaded RBI hit by pitch from freshman Daniel Chavez, but closed the gap any further.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 5-6 on the year. The Owls will be off until Friday when they head down the 605 to take on Rio Hondo College. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
