Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team went head to head with a fellow Western State Conference South Division squad that's long been a thorn in their side Bakersfield College. It took more than nine innings, and the Owls still weren't able to remove the thorn, as the Renegades prevailed 5-3.

Freshman Taylor Grace put Citrus on the scoreboard first with a solo home run that easily cleared the left field fence in the bottom of the second. Bakersfield rallied right back though, taking advantage of an Owl error early in the top of the third, to score three unearned runs and go up 3-1.

The Owls immediately cut their deficit to run thanks to an RBI single back up the middle of the field off the bat of sophomore Johnathon Reynoso that scored freshman Mason Jandro, but the Owls didn't tie the game up until the bottom of the fifth when Reynoso singled to left field scoring freshman Aaron Torres to make it 3-3.

Neither team would score over the final four innings. Freshman Sean Patton (1-2) ended up the hard luck loser in the game, despite pitching six solid innings of relief. Patton came in for starter Michael Reina in the top of the fifth and spread out three walks and four hits over his six innings of work, striking out four batters along the way.

At the plate, Reynoso led the way with a 3 for 5 effort and two RBI's. Sophomore Michael Bradley was 2 for 4, and Grace was 2 for 5.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 8-7 on the year and 1-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back out on the diamond this coming Saturday when they travel to College of the Canyons for a 1:00 PM start.
