Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team stranded twice as many runners as their opponent on Thursday afternoon and it came back to haunt the Owls. Citrus matched LA Valley's 11 total hits, but left 10 runners on base in a 7-4 loss to the Monarchs.

LA Valley crossed home plate first in the top of the first inning, but Citrus quickly took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second via a two RBI single from sophomore Matthew Reynoso. Sophomore Michael Bradley tacked on another run in the bottom of the third when his RBI double down the left field line scored freshman Troy Resch from first to make it 3-1.

Valley would cut the Owls' lead to one in the top of the fourth, but it was the top of the sixth that was deadly for Citrus. With the bases loaded and no outs, the Monarchs got a grand slam that made it 6-3 Valley. The Monarchs tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh, and Citrus mustered just one run, an RBI single to left field by sophomore Nathan Virgen, the rest of the way.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 9-9 on the year and 2-3 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back at home on Saturday, playing host to Glendale College, with first pitch set for 1:00 PM.
