Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team dropped its second straight WSC South game on Saturday afternoon when they hosted Glendale College. The Owls had a ninth inning rally, but it came up short as they fell 4-6.

Citrus scored first in the bottom of the second, when freshman Matthew Reynoso's ground ball to right side of the field allowed freshman Taylor Grace to score from third. That would be all the scoring though in the first five innings as both starting pitchers pretty much held the opposing bats in check. Freshman Sean Patton got the call for Citrus and he did more than enough to put Citrus in position to earn the win. Patton scattered seven hits and no walks, while he struck out four. Patton's lone slipup came in the top of the sixth when the Vaqueros tagged him for three runs.

Trailing 3-1, Citrus cut their deficit to one in the bottom of the seventh via an RBI single to center field from freshman Richard Chavez. Glendale came right back in the top of the eighth with a pair of scores and then added one more in the top of the ninth for good measure. Citrus rallied with a pair of scores with just one out in the bottom of the ninth, but the Vaqueros got the final two batters of the game to fly out to end the threat.

In the loss, Citrus was paced at the plate by Grace who was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored. Sophomore Nathan Virgen was 2 for 4 with a run scored. With the loss, Citrus falls to 9-10 on the year and 2-4 in WSC South play. Citrus will be back at home to close out their current home stand against LA Mission at 2:30 PM.
