Owls Snap Three Game Skid at West LA

Culver City, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team stopped a three game skid on Thursday afternoon with a 12-4 win at West Los Angeles College. The Owls racked up 15 hits, while the Citrus arms held the Wildcats to just seven in the victory.

The game was back and forth through the first half of the contest. West LA scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, but the Owls rallied with three runs in the top of the second to take their first lead. Freshmen Mason Jandro and Aaron Torres both recorded RBI's in the inning as did sophomore Matthew Reynoso.

The Wildcats came right back in the bottom of the third to recapture the lead 4-3, but took the lead for good two innings later in the top of the fifth. Citrus exploded for seven runs in the top of the fifth, getting RBI's from sophomores Michael Bradley, Nathan Virgen, and Johnathon Reynoso along with freshman Troy Resch, Brendan Campbell, and Torres.

In the top of the eighth, Citrus added a pair of insurance runs via RBI's from Jandro and Campbell, but they didn't even need it as the Owls pitching shutdown the West LA offense over the final five innings.

Freshman Sean Patton earned the victory going three innings, giving up just one hit and one walk, while striking out six West LA batters. At the plate, Matthew Reynoso was 2 for 3, as was Jandro who was 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBI's. Freshman Troy Resch was 3 for 4 with a pair of runs and an RBI.

With the win, Citrus improves to 10-11 overall and 3-5 in WSC South play. The Owls will be right back at West LA on Saturday for a 1:00 PM first pitch.
