Bakersfield, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team ran their winning streak to three games on Tuesday afternoon with a 6-3 win over host Bakersfield College. The Owls got a big day at the play from sophomore Jonathon Reynoso, as he went 4 for 5 with a pair of runs and an RBI.

The scoring got started early as the Owls got a two RBI single from freshman Troy Resch in the top of the first that scored both Jonny and his cousin Matthew Reynoso. Bakersfield answered in the bottom half of the inning with a single run, but after that, freshman starter Sean Patton shut down the Renegade bats over his remaining six innings of work.

Patton allowed just six total hits in his seven innings of work, giving up just that first inning run, and struck out nine total batters. With Patton taking care of business on the mound, the Owls offense gave him more than enough support.

Johnny Reynoso recorded his RBI in the top of the second with a base knock to center field that scored freshman Brendan Campbell. Freshman Taylor Grace got a fielder's choice RBI in the top of the fifth that scored Matthew Reynoso and made it 4-1. The Owls added a run each, in the top of the seventh, and the top of the eighth. The score in the eighth was via an RBI double from Matthew Reynoso that scored freshman Aaron Torres.

In the bottom of the eighth, Bakersfield threatened with a pair of scores, but sophomore Jayson De La Pena notched his second straight save with an inning and a thirds worth of work, giving up just one hit, and no runs, securing the victory.

With the win, Citrus improves to 12-11 overall and 5-5 in WSC South play. The Owls have one more game with the Renegades as they host Bakersfield on Thursday. First pitch is set for 2:30 PM.
