Lancaster, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team found themselves in seventh heaven on Thursday afternoon. The Owls ran their win streak to seven thanks to a big late push in a 7-2 victory at Antelope Valley College.

Citrus continued to be an early inning threat as they got a RBI double from sophomore Jonathon Reynoso to lead off the top of the first. Freshman Aaron Torres hit an RBI double of his own in the top of the fourth as the Owls went up 2-0.

Antelope Valley would answer in the bottom of the fourth, and the game would stay tied over the next three innings. Finally the Owls broke it open in the top of the eighth, taking advantage of a Marauder error and RBI's from freshmen Brett Shewmaker, Taylor Grace, and sophomore Michael Bradley to go up 6-2. Freshman Joseph Ryan gave the Owls all the cushion they needed with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth to give Citrus their seven runs.

On the mound, freshman starter Nicholas Sergi got stuck with a no decision, despite six good innings of work, scattering seven hits and a walk, giving up just those two runs, and fanning four Antelope Valley batters. Freshman Conlan Mackenzie got the win, thanks to his 1.2 innings of work in relief, while sophomore Jayson De La Pena continued to be lights out at the back end of the bullpen getting the final four outs of the game, striking out a pair.

With the win, Citrus improves to 16-11 overall and 9-5 in WSC South play. The Owls will host the Marauders for the final game of their 2014 series on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
