Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team committed seven errors, and their seven game win streak came to a screeching halt on Saturday afternoon. The Owls still tried to battle through the mistakes, but ultimately fell in 13 innings, 9-6.

It took a while for the Owls to get going, but they finally broke the scoring drought in the bottom of the fourth thanks to an RBI double from freshman Taylor Grace. The Citrus fielding woes began in earnest in the top half of the next inning though as Antelope Valley scored four runs in the top of the fifth, three of which were unearned.

Citrus came right back and answered the bell in the bottom half of the inning, getting an RBI groundout from freshman Brendan Campbell and a two RBI single back up the middle of the field from freshman Aaron Torres to make it 4-4. Citrus would take back the lead in the very next inning when freshman Troy Resch got caught in a pickle between first and second base, allowing Grace to score from third.

Citrus would hang on to the lead for an inning, until Antelope Valley tied it up in the top of the eighth. The Owls would get a chance to earn the walk-off in the bottom of the ninth, but Grace would be stranded at third.

In extras, Citrus squandered another change in the 10th, and then gave up another unearned run in the top of the 11th to go down 6-5. Citrus would rally back in the bottom half of the inning getting a sacrifice fly to left field from freshman Alex Guerrero Jr. The Owls would have a chance to win it before the inning was up, but again the Owls left a runner in scoring position.

The Owls would strand another runner in scoring position in the bottom of the 12th, and by the time the 13th rolled around, Citrus had used up all of it's luck as one out error that should have been a double-play ball, ultimately resulted in three unearned runs for the Marauders that the Owls just couldn't match.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 16-12 on the year and 9-6 in WSC South play. The Owls will hit the road for another conference contest on Tuesday when they go to Los Angeles Valley College for a 2:30 PM meeting.
