Glendale, CA -- The Citrus College fell just short of pulling even with third place Glendale College in the Western State Conference South Division standings on Friday afternoon. The Owls had a rough fourth inning, that put Citrus in a hole they couldn't climb out of in a 4-3 loss to the Vaqueros.

As they've done nine other times this year, the Owls got a run in the very first inning of the game. Freshman Aaron Torres led the game off with a single to center field, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, third on a groundout, and then scored via a passed ball to make it 1-0 Citrus.

Citrus wouldn't hold the lead for very long. Glendale came right back in the bottom of the second and scored four runs, three of which were unearned to jump out to a 4-1 lead. The Owls would pull to within one in the top of the fifth, thanks to a pair of runs scoring off a triple from sophomore Jonathon Reynoso, but Citrus only threatened once more and failed to cash anything in. Torres would be the biggest bright spot for the Owls on the day, going 3 for 4 with two runs scored.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 18-13 overall and 11-7 in WSC South play. Citrus will take a break from conference competition in the upcoming week and take on Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday in Walnut at 2:30 PM.
