Monterrey Park, CA -- After scoring the game's opening run in the top of the first inning, the Citrus College Baseball team's offense was held back over the final eight innings of play on Saturday afternoon at East Los Angeles College. The Owls did rack up eight hits, but stranded eight base runners in a 1-3 loss.

Freshman Ryan Aguilar was responsible for the first run of the game, hit an RBI single that drove in sophomore Taylor Grace. That would be it for the run production the rest of the way. Sophomore starting pitcher Cameron Rodriguez did his best to keep the Owls in it. Rodriguez went seven innings, scattering seven hits, and three runs (one in the bottom of the fourth, and the other two in the bottom of the sixth) before getting tagged with the loss. Rodriguez fanned five Husky hitters and walked just one in his time on the mound.

Citrus would get a chance to get back into the game in both the seventh and ninth innings. In the top of the seventh a fielder's choice by freshman Rudy Casarez III and a double off the bat of Grace put runners on second and third with no outs. The Owls would again put two on in the top of the ninth, but each time the threat was ended, as the Owls grounded out in the seventh and lined out in the ninth to end the game.

In the loss, Grace finished the day 3 for 4 at the plate. Casarez was 2 for 3.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 5-4-1 on the season. The Owls will be on the road again this coming Thursday when they travel to San Bernardino Valley College for a 2:00 PM first pitch.
