Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball program had SoCal #13 College of the Canyons on the rope on Thursday afternoon when they hosted the Cougars in a WSC South match-up. The Owls blew the lead though, giving up five runs in the top of the ninth inning in a 7-3 loss.

Canyons would get on the board first in what was a tightly contested contest throughout. The Cougars used an RBI double off starter Sean Patton to take an early 1-0 lead. Citrus didn't let the lead stand for long though as a double down the right field line from sophomore Taylor Grace and an RBI single off the bat of freshman Jonathan Ayala gave the Owls a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

The Cougars cut the Owls lead to one in top of the sixth, but the Owls held on to that lead until one out in the top of the ninth. That's when Citrus gave up five unanswered, spotting Canyons a four run lead. Citrus would get a two out single in the bottom of the ninth from sophomore Richard Chavez, but nothing else as they fell to 7-7-1 on the year and 1-1 in WSC South play.

The Owls will hit the road this Saturday as they continue conference action. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM at Antelope Valley College.
