Glendora, CA -- Visiting Los Angeles Valley College scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of Tuesday's Western State Conference South Division game against the Owls. It was a blow Citrus never recovered from as the Owls lost 5-6.

All was good and well up until that seventh inning. Citrus scored a run in the top of the first via a RBI double to right from sophomore Troy Resch. Resch would then score a run three innings later when sophomore Shawn Sweeney's sacrifice scored him from third.

In the top of the sixth, Citrus added two more scores also on bunts one each from freshman Jonathan Ayala and sophomore Anthony Virgen. In the top of the seventh, Citrus was feeling good after Ayala ripped a single up the middle of the field driving in sophomore Taylor Grace to put Citrus up 5-0.

Things fell apart rather quickly after that. The Monarchs hit the Owls for six runs in the bottom half of the inning two of which could have been avoided and were unearned. Citrus would put runners on in each of the top half of the eighth and ninth innings, but each time the Owls ended the inning with rally killing double plays.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 8-8-1 overall and 2-2 in WSC South play. Citrus will try and get back to their winning ways this Thursday when they travel to Glendale College for a 2:30 PM first pitch.
