Sophomore Sean Patton notched his first win of the year in Citrus' 7-3 victory over Glendale on Thursday.

Glendale, CA -- After giving up another late lead on Tuesday against LA Valley College, Citrus turned the tables on their opponent on Thursday afternoon when they travelled to Glendale College for a WSC South tilt. The Owls scored six runs of their seven runs in the top of the seventh inning in a 7-3 win.

For the first six innings, Citrus had very little going offensively. The Owls mustered just three hits in the first six innings, and had four total base runners in that same span. That all changed though in the top of the seventh.

Freshman Jonathan Ayala led things off with a single that gave the Owls just their fifth base runner of the game. Freshman Joshua Chua would move him over with a sacrifice bunt, and after back to back singles by sophomores Mark Segat and Shawn Sweeney, an error to at bats later would plate Ayala and Segat to put the Owls on the board. Glendale would commit two more errors in consecutive at bats, allowing three more runs to score. Sophomore Troy Resch would drive in the sixth with a single to right-center.

That would be all the help Citrus would need thanks in large part to the performance of sophomore righty Sean Patton. Patton gave up a total of nine hits and four walks in just over seven innings worth of work, allowing two runs in that stretch. Patton also fanned a season high eight batters and limited the Vaqueros to those two scores as he picked up his first win of the 2015 season.

In the win, Citrus was paced at the plate by Ayala who went 3 for 5 with a run scored. Segat was 2 for 4.

With the win, Citrus moves back above .500 at 9-8-1 on the year and 3-2 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back at home on Saturday when they host Los Angeles Mission College at 1:00 PM.
