Culver City, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team hammered out 11 hits, drew four walks, and rolled on Tuesday afternoon in a Western State Conference South Division match-up at West Los Angeles College. Eight of the nine players in the starting lineup recorded at least one hit as Citrus won 8-2.

The Wildcats put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, scoring a pair in the bottom of the first. That would be all they get the rest of the way though. Sophomore Nicholas Sergi (5-1) pitched eight strong, giving up just five hits, two of which came in that first inning, no walks, and striking out eight total batters.

With Sergi nailing things down on the hill, Citrus bided it's time until exploding for five runs in the top of the third. Freshman Rudy Casarez III got things going by driving in a pair. Sophomore Troy Resch followed that up with an RBI single, while freshman Jonathan Ayala picked up an RBI via a bases loaded walk. A misplay by the Wildcats would lead to the Owls' fifth run of the inning, a score that would prove to be more than enough.

Over the course of the final six innings, Citrus added three more scores. Sophomore Shawn Sweeney roped an RBI double in the top of the sixth, while Resch picked up a bases loaded RBI walk in the top of the ninth. Sophomore Anthony Virgen scored the game's last run, scoring from third on a wild pitch, settling the score at 8-2.

With the win, Citrus improves to 10-9-1 overall and 4-3 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Bakersfield College for a 3:00 PM first pitch.
