Bakersfield, CA -- The Citrus College Baseball team travelled to Bakersfield College on Thursday afternoon for a Western State Conference South Division match-up. The Owls were dropped late by the Renegades, who scored six of their nine runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings as Citrus fell 7-9.

The Owls wasted little time in getting on the board scoring two runs in the top of the first and three in the top of the second. Sophomore's Taylor Grace and Mark Segat drove in the game's first two scores with RBI singles, while freshmen Michael Carlos and Jonathan Ayala along with Grace drove in the next three.

Bakersfield added three scores in the bottom of the second to make it 3-5, but Citrus got two more runs in the top of the fifth, thanks to an RBI single from Carlos and a bases loaded RBI walk from sophomore Troy Resch that made it 7-3. The wheels came off shortly thereafter. Bakersfield went on to score two in the sixth, one in the seventh, and then three in the eighth to go up by two. Citrus had chances in the seventh, and eighth, and ninth innings with base runners on in each frame, but each time the Owls were held scoreless.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 10-10-1 overall and 4-4 in WSC South play. Citrus will be back out on the field on Saturday when they host the Renegades in the rubber match of the season series at 1:00 PM.
