Santa Clarita, CA -- Hits were a lean commodity for the Citrus College Baseball team on Tuesday afternoon when they travelled to College of the Canyons for a WSC South showdown. The Owls were held to two total hits, and drew zero walks in a 7-0 loss to the Cougars.

Canyons hit the Owls early on Tuesday, scoring once in the bottom of the third, another in the bottom of the fifth, and a third in the bottom of the sixth. Still the game was in reach late, until the Cougars scored four in the bottom of the seventh to give themselves a comfortable cushion.

Not that it mattered. Citrus didn't record a single hit until the top of the eighth inning. Sophomore Shawn Sweeney broke up the potential perfect game with a single. Freshman Michael Carlos recorded the lone other hit in the contest for Citrus with a single in the top of the ninth. When it was all said and done, Citrus had also struck out a season high 10 times.

With the loss, Citrus fell to 11-11-1 overall and 5-5 in WSC South play. The Owls will get a chance to exact a little revenge on Thursday when they play host to the Cougars at 2:30 PM .
