Glendora, CA — After pulling into a three way tie for second place in WSC South play with a 12-2 win over LA Valley College on Thursday afternoon, the Owls fell back into a two-way tie for third place with a 5-2 loss to the aforementioned Monarchs on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls troubles began in the bottom of the third inning some heads up base running and timely hitting lead to three scores for the Monarchs. In the top of the fourth, sophomore Anthony Virgen would get one of those runs back when he blasted the first pitch of the inning over the big fence in left field.

That was more or less all the offense the Owls would muster, as they were held to six total hits and just one walk.

In the bottom of the fifth, LA Valley tacked on to it's lead with two more scores. Virgen would do what he could with a single to center field in the top of the eighth that scored sophomore Richard Chavez, but that would be the last RBI of the day for the Owls.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 16-13-1 on the season and 9-6 in WSC South play. The road does not get any easier as they host first place Glendale College on Tuesday for a 2:30 PM first pitch.
